MUN Chancellor Recognition Reception

His Honour was honoured by the university community at a special reception held on Wednesday, October 8, 2008, ar R. Gushue Hall. At the reception, Dr. Crosbie, who served as Chancellor of Memorial University of Newfoundland from 1994-2008, was thanked for his service and presented with the Chancellor’s cap he wore in some 120 sessions of Convocation. Memorial Board of Regents Chair Gil Dalton, and Acting President Eddy Campbell also unveiled the oil portrait of Dr. Crosbie which will hang in R. Gushue Hall. His Honour was Memorial’s fifth Chancellor and led The Opportunity Fund, the university’s largest fundraising campaign to date, and which raised $60 million for the University during 1995 to 2000. Helping unveil Dr. Crosbie’s portrait were: (L-R) Dr. Iakov Afanassiev, the portrait artist and a professor in Memorial’s Department of Physics and Physical Oceanography, His Honour, Gil Dalton and Dr. Eddy Campbell. Retired General Rick Hillier will be ly installed as Memorial’s sixth Chancellor on October 17
